I've been wondering what some of the items displayed in the console for spd speed specifically mean.

msslimit=
avg_time=
had_bounce=
easy=

I know what MSS is, but why does this get set to such a high value (65535) and what effect if any is there in changing this? And what do those others mean?

msslimit is another upper limit to the mss, i.e. it forces the mss to or below this level.

avg_time is the time in msecs that bandwith calculations at least include. i.e. even if you can send, say, 1mb in 1.5 seconds, the bandwidth would be calculated over 2secs (default avg_time for DSL) to deal with spiky data transfer.

had_bounce is the number of attempts to further increase tx rate.

easy a/max shows how many more seconds (a) of total max seconds of upload until speed tries to increase the tx speed again.
