Deinstalling cFos/Win manually (only for cFos versions 3.81 and lower)

Use the installation program that comes with cFos for deinstallation. Simply double-click on SETUP.EXE (cFos Version 2.96 installer) or INSTALL.EXE (cFos versions 2.96 and lower for Win) / INST_NT.EXE (cFos versions 2.96 and lower for Win/NT) in the cFos directory and select the "Uninstall" option.
Before deinstalling cFos/Win manually, please follow these steps:

  • Make backup copies of the SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI files, both of which can be found in the Windows directory.
  • Delete the [cFos] section in the SYSTEM.INI, and the vcFos.vxd entry in the [386enh] section.
  • Make sure a line reading "comm.drv=comm.drv" is in the [boot] section.
  • Do check if the COMM.DRV file is still in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory - because if it isn't, Windows will fail to reboot. Yet, if you find a file called XOMM.DRV, you should copy it to COMM.DRV.
  • Remove the "run=c:\cFos\cFosdw.exe" command from the WIN.INI.

If cFos/Win was installed prior to other software that replaces COMM.DRV (like Fax driver or Teles WINCOM), this software must to be removed before cFos/Win can be uninstalled.

Deinstalling AOLISDN / OEMcFos

AOLISDN

To remove AOLISDN, start DELAOLI.EXE in the AOLISDN directory.

Should this fail, you will have to remove AOLISDN manually:

First, make backup copies of SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI. Both files can be found in the Windows directory.

Open the original SYSTEM.INI file with a text editor (like NOTEPAD.EXE).

Find VAOLISDN.VXD and delete the entire line with this entry.

Now go to the bottom of the file and delete everything under [AOLISDN] down to the next entry in square brackets.

Save your changes.

Now open the original WIN.INI with a text editor.

Delete the entry that starts with "RUN=" and lists the AOLISDN executable (e.g., RUN=c:\AOLISDN\AOLISDND.EXE).

Save your changes and restart your computer. Now you can start installing cFos.

OEMcFos

Recent AOL versions are shipped with OEMcFos. It is usually deinstalled together with AOL. If you have a copy of cFos/Professional, you could just install it over OEMcFos. Another possibility is to use "DELcFos.EXE," which can either be found in the Windows or the \WINDOWS\OEMcFos directory.

Should this fail, you will have to remove OEMcFos manually:

Again, you should first make some backup copies of SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI. Both files can be found in the Windows directory.

Open the original SYSTEM.INI with a text editor (like NOTEPAD.EXE).

Find the "vcFosoem.vxd" entry and delete the entire line beginning with "device=."

Find [cFosoem] and delete the entire entry down to the next entry in square brackets (should be about 12 lines long).

Save your changes and open WIN.INI.

In one of the first few lines, you should find "run=c:\windows\oemcFos\cFosoemd.exe."
Delete everything after "=" so that only "run=" remains.

Save the file and restart your computer.

World Money & cFos/Win

Start World Money

Go to "Settings -> Data base/Modem -> Modem."

Enter "AT&F" in the init string.

Select a baud rate of "38400."

Choose the same COM port to which you assigned cFos.

Telephone numbers are 0241 9039270 and 0241 9019706, but note that these may have become obsolete by now. Please check with World Money for the latest ISDN connection numbers.

Set sound dial to "ON."

Set RTS/CTS to "ON."

Click "OK."

Start the World Money Terminal.

Select "Einstellung > Schnittstellen Parameter" ("Setup > Port parameters").

You should choose the following settings:
Baud: 38400
Data Bits: 8
Stop Bits: 1
Parity: N
Handshake RTS/CTS: ON
Mode: Windows API

Click on "OK," and close the terminal.

Start World Money and begin data transmission.

pcAnywhere for Windows 95 & cFos/Win

Go to "Settings > Control Panel > Modems" and add a modem.

Click on "Select Modem" and then on "Next."

Enter "cFos Software Bonn" as the manufacturer. Choose the modem or type of connection you intend to use from the list of "Models" on the right.

Click on "Next."

Select the cFos port, which should be the same to which you assigned cFos during SETUP.

Click "Next" twice more and then "Close."

Now start pcAnywhere.

Select "Modem" and modify its properties (file/properties) in the HOST menu.

Select the installed cFos modem.

Go to "Settings -> More" under "Details."
Under "Further Settings," you can now enter an init string (e.g., "AT&FS10.4=1&L*").
Continue by clicking "OK, OK, APPLY," and "OK" again.

Select the same settings for the REMOTE, as the remote computer you want to access needs to be configured correspondingly.

Now you should be able to use cFos and pcAnywhere to call the remote computer and accept calls by remote (in host mode).
The "L*" command in the init string allows cFos to "listen" to incoming calls on all EAZs. If you'd rather have cFos "listen" to one specific EAZ only, replace the asterisk (i.e., the "*") by that EAZ's number (e.g., "L1").

Lotus Notes with cFos

To use cFos with Lotus Notes, copy the LOTUS_CF.MDM file from your cFos directory to your Notes directory (more specifically, ...\notes\data\modems).

You still need to enter the COM port to which you assigned cFos in the Notes directory. All other settings like port speed, volume, and dial system (tone/impulse) will be ignored.

GenoLite & cFos

Start the setup program and log in as supervisor.

Click on "Central Data."

Select the "Modem" option under "BTX connection via...".

Enter your access code, password and the BTX number.

Click on "OK" and leave setup.

Now start GENO Lite and log in as supervisor again.

Click on "Central Data" and select "BTX-Modem Parameters" under "Modem-/ISDN Parameters."

Change the init string in this menu to "AT &F B5". As COM port select the one to which you assigned cFos (e.g., "COM3").

Click on "OK."

cFos/Win with Trumpet Winsock 3.0

To use automatic LOGIN/BYE scripts for Internet login with synchronous PPP, follow these steps:

1. Go to "File -> Setup." Click on "Dialer Settings" under "PPP." Now select the COM port to which you assigned cFos. Enter "64000" as the "baud rate." Click on "OK."

2. Now go to "Dialer -> Profile -> Server Settings."

3. Enter your user data into the "Username prompt:, Password prompt:" and "Command prompt" fields. Then click "OK."

4. Next, go to "Modem Settings" under "Login Profile" and enter "&F B8 X6" as the init string. Activate the "Hardware (DTR) Hangup" option.
For asynchronous PPP use the same options, but enter only "&F X6" as init string.

5. Should you need further LOGIN scripts from your provider, configure "Dialer -> Profile -> Server Settings" accordingly or modify the LOGIN.CMD login script.

WinFax PRO 8.0

cFos/Win and cFos/NT must be entered as "Class 2 Fax Modems" in WinFax. Choose the "cFos FAX via CAPI" modem under "Setup -> Modem -> Properties." Also, deselect "Class 2" under its "Properties." Then click on the "Fax" file tab and enter "AT +FCLASS=2 &IAD" in the "Initializing Sequence."

Attachmate RLN NT 4.0 Client

RLN is a 'Remote LAN Access' software that supports all common network environments and protocols. It uses cFos for ISDN support. Please refer to www.atm.com for more information. RLN NT 4.0 Client Version 4.2.1 has been tested with cFos and should work with the cFos modem set to "Attachmate RLN Client."

Note: Because the RLN server supports 'Third-Party' PPP connections as well, the same cFos modem setting can, for instance, be used for connection with MS RAS clients, too.

MS Money 98 & cFos/NT

Adding "ATS78=0" to the list of AT commands in the Modem Manager under "Settings -> Connection -> Advanced -> Further Settings" is required to let cFos/NT work with Money 98. Please make sure to select the correct modem for this setting (usually, the Datex-J modem).

PROCOMM PLUS for Windows

Under "Advanced" in the "Setup" menu (ALT-S), you will need to change the "Port" to "INT14."

Austrian Credit Institute (CA) Telebanking Software

Please note that this applies only for Fritz ISDN cards running Telebanking Software (Business Line Euro) of the Creditanstalt Austria (CA).

As this kind of data tranfer would otherwise be impossible, CA recommends that customers download the cFos driver.

Following installation, you will find a new entry called "Fritz!Card with cFos" under "System data -> Communication profiles -> Modem configuration,."
Do NOT use this but select "Standard modem" instead!

Please note as well that "DCD, CTS low" under "Erkennen der Verbindungsunterbrechung" ("Detection of disconnection") and "Break senden" ("Send break") under "Durchführen der Verbindungsunterbrechung" ("Disconnect") have been added to the list of available settings.
